For EU/EEA students, studying in Italy doesn’t require a study visa. However, international students from other countries have a study visa application process to follow, which can be simplified by having all the necessary information.

Based on the duration of your intended stay in Italy and the type of study program, you will need to apply for one of the following study visa types:

Short-stay study visa (type C)

For language courses or short programs lasting less than 90 days.

Long-stay study visa (type D)

For degree courses or programs that involve at least 20 hours of study per week (or 80 hours per month) and last more than 90 days.
